Peter always prayed for his kids before they ran out the door to school. Each and every day, he put his hand on their heads and asked the Lord to bless their days. One day as Peter was trying to get out the door to work, his daughter Emma stood in front of the door and told Peter, in no uncertain terms, that he couldn’t leave because he hadn’t prayed for her yet!
“And he (Jesus) took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.” Mark 10:16.
What is the biggest blessing that a mom or dad can give a child?–to pray for them before they walk out the door each morning. To pray that the Lord would bless their paths, that His love would flow through them to others, that they would experience every blessing that He has for them, and that the Lord would return them safely back to us.
“As every day demands its bread, so every day demands its prayer. No amount of praying, done today, will suffice for tomorrow’s praying. On the other hand, no praying for tomorrow is of any great value to us today. Today’s manna is what we need; tomorrow God will see that our needs are supplied.” E.M. Bounds
Take your children into your arms, place your hands on them and bless them…as Jesus did.
